Enhancing classroom comfort and educational performance through improved energy management practices, resulting in reduced energy costs of more than 30 per cent.

With a growing student population and rising energy costs to meet new infrastructure requirements, Cannon Hill Anglican College engaged Hexeis to implement an advanced, automated system that controls air conditioning, without compromising classroom comfort. Underpinned by our operating model, the Hexeis Advantage Formula, our team harnessed unique energy systems to deliver long-term value and sustainability outcomes, so savings could be redirected to where it counts.

THE BRIEF

Like many education providers, Cannon Hill Anglican College wanted to address increasing energy bills – not just now but also into the future. They wanted to reduce energy costs by 20 per cent while maintaining classroom comfort.

THE SOLUTION

Through a pilot project, the Hexeis team worked alongside the client to implement an automated system, designed specifically for schools. Integrated with standard Building Management System functionality, the technology connects to air conditioners to provide:

Temperature setpoint limits

After-hours timers and auto on/off scheduling

Centralised control and monitoring

Performance analysis for maintenance

Demand response function

THE RESULTS

Following its implementation, this Hexeis energy management solution has provided:

A 36 per cent reduction in peak demand charges (even with a new classroom block added) and a 30 per cent reduction in overall energy costs in the first year alone.

Ongoing and consistent energy savings across six years.

A customised heating and cooling system that not only improves energy efficiency but also comfort - creating an optimal learning environment.

A catalyst for building habits of excellence as the school continues to grow, with ongoing collaboration with Hexeis to further future-proof their energy assets and reduce waste.
